Allergy Research

Innovative research trials conducted today at The Allergy and Asthma Clinic impact the care and medications we provide for those with allergic conditions, asthma, and other chronic lung diseases tomorrow.

General Information

We are currently conducting several trials on various medications primarily for adults at this time. All studies are sponsored by major pharmaceutical companies and compensate qualified subjects for their time. Each study is conducted following Federal Drug Administration procedures.

We are currently recruiting for two different asthma medications being manufactured by local biotech companies.

Specifically, we are looking for participants who:

  • Are between the ages of 18-75
  • Have asthma
  • Take an inhaled steroid inhaler along with another controlling medication (i.e., Singulair, or a combination product like Advair, Dulera or Symbicort)
  • Have not smoked more than 1 ppd for 10 years.
  • Either on maintenance dose allergy shots or not on allergy shots at all

As a participant in the study, you will receive:

  • Paid monthly visits
  • Regularly scheduled monitored health visits, free of charge
  • Free study drug

If you are interested in participating in a study, have a history of asthma and no long-term smoking history, please contact our office.

Frequently Asked Questions

What areas of therapy do your studies cover?

We conduct trials mainly for patients with asthma & allergies.

How long are the studies?

The duration of each study differs. Most studies run between 1-2 years. Patients may discontinue from the studies at any time by notifying our office.

How many visits are there?

The number of visits varies by length of study. Generally, there are from 6-20 visits over the study period (depending on the length of the study). The visits need to occur within a certain window of time, and we will make every effort to accommodate your schedule.

Do I have to come to every visit?

We enroll you in the study with the hopes that you will complete each visit. However, if your condition worsens during the course of the study, we will treat you appropriately and withdraw you from the study if needed. If at any time you wish to discontinue the trial, simply inform the study coordinator and she will remove you from the study.

Do I have to pay to participate?

No. Most studies offer compensation for time for persons who enroll in and complete a study. Compensation is prorated if a person withdraws.

Are research medications approved?

We conduct studies with medications not yet approved for prescription as well as those which are. Some of our studies compare various approved medications or treatment regimens.
